Want, need, pain, and joy were emotions Shade had never known existed before Lily. He knew the first time he saw her face that she was going to change his life forever. The thing he hadn’t expected was how hard it would be to hide who and what he was from her. Each step he took out of the shadows revealed more of himself, until only one secret remained. Shade arrogantly believed he could help heal the wounds from her past, but now it was his own past that was trying to tear them apart. To keep Lily, Shade would have to use the very skills he had been trying to hide from her. The skills that made him a killer … a soulless monster.

“Which one did you have your eye on?” Razer asked casually.

“Does it matter? You heard what the sheriff said.”

“Not going to make a move on her, just curious.” A casual shrug couldn’t hide the fact Razer was just as interested in the blond as he was in the dark-haired one.

“Lily.” Shade felt a chill slide down his back as her name left his mouth.

“Cool.” Razer started his bike.

He gave a short laugh. “You don’t stand a chance with her.”

Razer gave a grin. “It’s a small town. Sooner or later, I’ll see her again.”

“And when you do?”

“She’s not underage, so there’s no reason I can’t talk to her.”

“You mean fuck her.”

“You think I stand a chance?”

Shade remembered the furtive look the blond had shot at Razer. “Yeah, but a woman like that doesn’t play like we do,” he warned. “Bitches like that get serious after they get your dick in them.

“I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it.” Razer ignored his warning as he pulled out of the parking lot.

Shade started his own bike, thinking he wouldn’t interfere with Razer going after Beth Cornett. Because, despite his best intentions, he did want to see Lily again, and letting Razer pursue her sister just might give Shade the opportunity.

Q&A with Shade from SHADE (Last Riders #6)

(Interviewing Shade while his little boy John is chewing on his daddy’s finger)

~Shade, for a guy who doesn’t say much, you sure had a lot to say in SHADE.  What scene do you think will shock the fans the most?

The one where I visited Queen, Queens, or Queen’s City, how ever the fuck you spell it.

~Who knew you were such a “Matchmaker”, do you consider it part of your duties to protect the other guys by making sure they are happy?

My job as an enforcer is to keep them from making mistakes that will get them in trouble. If their happy and home with their woman, it’s a lot less work for me.

~Lily has grown so much throughout the book, have you finally loosened the reins and let her take care of you in return?

Yes, I’ve learnt Lily is more than able to handle all my needs.

~How’s your sex life (I’ll bet it’s better than ever!)?

Put it this way, neither of us are sleeping on the couch.

~How has having John changed your life?

John has shown me that I don’t care if I don’t get much sleep, that I’m always searching for his paci, or that I’m constantly changing that diaper of his. I’ve changed from being a self-centered bastard to a father.

~What do you foresee for you and Lily in the future? More kids? Will you stay in Treepoint?

Lily wants a house full of kid’s, and she never wants to leave Treepoint. I plan to make sure she get’s what she wants. I see at least fifty years ahead of us living and loving each other with our children and grandchildren around us. Oh, and of course The Last Riders.

~Last question…I think as your fans, we always just wanted to see you FINALLY happy.  So, are you happy? Shade gazed down at his son, rubbing his thumb across his soft cheek.

“Yes, and I have a picture to prove it.” Shade nodded to the table which held a framed picture of him holding John with Lily beside them, his arm around her shoulders. He had a smile on his face.

Author Info

"I was born in a small town in Kentucky. My family began poor, but worked their way to owning a restaurant. My mother was one of the best cooks I have ever known, and she instilled in all her children the value of hard work, and education.

Taking after my mother, I've always love to cook, and became pretty good if I do say so myself. I love to experiment and my unfortunate family has suffered through many. They now have learned to steer clear of those dishes. I absolutely love the holidays and my family puts up with my zany decorations.

For now, my days are spent writing, writing, and writing. I have two children who both graduated this year from college. My daughter does my book covers, and my son just tries not to blush when someone asks him about my books.

Currently I am writing five series of books- The Last Riders, The VIP Room, Predators MC, Biker Bitches, and The Dark Souls.

All my books are written for one purpose- the enjoyment others find in them, and the expectations of my fans that inspire me to give it my best.”

Q&A with Author Jamie Begley

~First question…have you taken a LONG ass nap after writing SHADE?

I wish, I have one planned as soon as I hit publish March 16th.

~SHADE has a TON of twists and turns that I never expected, did you always know where the story was going, or did it come to you as the words flowed?

I knew where it was going during Cash’s book, some of the chapters were in my head for months begging to be written, it was a huge relief when the story was finally finished.

~Can you tell the readers a little bit about SHADE?

Shade starts at the beginning from the point Shade saw Lily, it follow’s their relationship through their marriage. It show’s the real Shade that he kept hidden from Lily, and how he grew to become more human through his love for her.

~How much fun was it to write a complete book in Shade’s POV?

I discovered that men are as sensitive as women they just hide it better. I do prefer writing from a woman’s viewpoint better because of course I can relate more easily to the feelings a woman would experience versus how a man would.

~How long does it typically take you to write a book?

A month working seven, sixteen hour days, once I start I don’t stop until it’s finished. I’m pretty much housebound during that period. I was driving to the store one day while I was writing Riot and missed two exits after that I let my daughter do the shopping. Shade has taken the longest to write I’ve been working on it for five months.

~What is your favorite part of the book to write?  A sex scene?  An emotional scene? An action scene?

Actually it’s really weird but my favorite scenes to write are the one’s where I’m setting the stage for a surprise or revealing one. I guess at heart I’m a mystery writer.

~Now that you have finished SHADE (that monster of a book), what’s next?

Right now I’m actually working on two, one is a Predator book, and the other is Lucky’s story.
